How My Garden Grows, or Not, Sic: Journal Entry: 05/07/2024

05.07.2024 – I did some research on plants diseases and causes because even after treating my outdoor plants for insects, they were still producing yellow and brown splotchy leaves with no visible signs of infestation nor over watering. What I discovered was that although the insects were gone, I had over treated my plants and did so in the blazing Florida sun. In my zealous to be rid of the insects I used three difference products, which will remain unnamed because they are good products when used alone, and the product in my previous post is not among them; however, when applied one after another over a short period of time will mimic common plant diseases and infestations. In short I all but killed the plants nutrients and burnt some of the leaves.

So that there is no confusions of events, the above discovery had nothing to do with the malicious attack on my plants done by a neighbor. See my entry, Evelyn’s Patio Furniture Makeover - My Mary Garden. The same caustic solution that was poured on those lounge chairs was poured onto and in the soil of my potted plants. Those incidents were reported the authorities and the lounge chairs replaced during the makeover.

Nevertheless, my recent problem was my own doing, and I and remedying it with plain water by rinsing, rinsing and more rinsing to remove the insecticides from the plants foremost on the leaves.

Today the beneficial wasps and butterflies are back. They will help pollinate the flowering plants. However, I will probably have to continue my war on grasshoppers.
